- Define summarisation as the process of distilling the main ideas of a text into a concise form.
**Instruction/Teaching (15 minutes)**
1. **Explain Key Concepts:**
- Review key concepts such as main idea, supporting details, and the structure of a paragraph.
- Discuss how to identify the main points in a text.
2. **Model Summarising:**
- Read a short passage aloud to the class.
- Demonstrate how to highlight or note key points while reading.
- Model writing a summary of the passage in 3 sentences on the board, explaining your thought process.
**Guided Practice (15 minutes)**

- Distribute copies of a new passage to the class.
